Meet Khalil Ramal
FAMILY, COMMUNITY AND THE LOVE FOR LONDON
Khalil arrived in London in February of 1989.
Back then London was a quiet, small city, home to some very successful private companies and many manufacturing enterprises, including auto assembly and parts plants, locomotive design and production, and busy Canadian–centered College and University Academic and Research Centres that attracted students from Canada’s Eastern and Western Provinces.
It was a London where it was easy to know your neighbors. Where house doors remained open at night and car keys slept in the ignitions of vehicles that would rarely be stolen.
Sure, there were needs. Sure, there was poverty. Nevertheless, one essential element in that London from thirty-one years ago was that people carried London in their hearts, in their lives and in their workplaces.

Today London is a much bigger place, with a larger population and many of its inhabitants have come from more than two hundred nations in the world
The once quiet, small town is no longer. Nonetheless in its core lies the strength that brought us here.We are not yet a large Canadian Metropolis, but we need to create those spaces that will consolidate us as a City of the Future…Our Future…the Future of every Londoner that has chosen to become an inhabitant of one of our fourteen Wards.Khalil matured with this City. He went to school and then worked as a teacher, a journalist and then as a counsellor for physically and mentally disabled patients at the Oxford Regional Social Services Centre in Woodstock, Ontario.
In 2003, Khalil was elected as an MPP for the Riding of London Fanshawe (38th and 39th governments of the Province of Ontario from 2003-2007 and 2007-2011). Besides serving in different committees, Khalil managed to bring many solid investments that strengthened key sectors of the City, helping it change and adapt as social, political, and financial domestic and international circumstances created shifts in London’s directions.
Through the years, Khalil’s powerful, reliable, and solid leadership has helped develop many different initiatives in the fields of Education, Health Care, Telemedicine and Finance.
